Sarnia-Lambton is a "Designated Safe Community"
Our goal is to reduce the devastating pain, suffering and economic burden of injury to our Citizens of all ages. In October 1997, Sarnia-Lambton was designated as the 9th Safe Community in Canada. The Re-launch of Sarnia-Lambton Safe Communities was held on June 17, 2010 at The Quality Inn, Sarnia.
At this initial meeting, we had wonderful participation with community leaders including the Mayor of Sarnia, Mike Bradley and representatives from the following: City of Sarnia, County of Lambton, Police, Home Depot, Lambton Sportsmen Club, Imperial Oil, Town of Plympton/Wyoming, MPP Bob Bailey, Red Cross, Salvation Army, Sarnia Family Services, Selectpath Financial Services, SLEA, CAER, St. Clair Catholic School Board, St. Clair Township, The Chris Dawson Foundation, WSIB, WSPS (formerly IAPA), Stroke Recovery Association, YMCA, Real Estate, Chatham Kent Fire Service, Village of Point Edward.
Safe Communities Canada is a national charitable organization dedicated to helping communities across the country build the capacity and resources they will need as they commit to mounting co-ordinated, collaborative programmes designed to reduce the pain and cost of injury and promote a culture of safety for all their citizens. www.safecommunities.ca

Safe Communities Incentive Program (SCIP)
SCIP is a Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) training program that promotes workplace safety and can reduce WSIB costs for small businesses. SCIP is a two-part incentive program for small businesses. Firms that meet the program requirements are eligible to receive a one time only 5% rebate on their WSIB premiums for each part.

Part One is an introduction to health and safety designed to create awareness of risks
in the workplace and an understanding of legal requirements.

Part Two further enhances health and safety awareness by helping
participants develop an effective health and safety program.
